How to present my library

Inhalt:

This course is geared towards librarians, who are exposed to English-speaking users and have to give tours or presentations in and around the library. It aims to develop your skills, knowledge and confidence in formal presentation situations. Participants will be actively involved in activities to build up on their previous knowledge and their language competencies. You will learn useful key phrases and vocabulary to describe and present your library and its services to customers. Each participant will be given the opportunity to give a presentation and try out and apply newly acquired strategies and techniques – with confidence.

On completion of this 2-day course the participants will be able to:

  • understand the ingredients of a successful presentation
  • plan and execute a presentation relevant to their professional needs
  • increase confidence in their ability to present information
  • select and use relevant material to gain maximum impact and understanding
  • apply presentation techniques which help to maintain the interest of an audience
  • use their voice and body language effectively
  • handle questions with confidence
  • build up on their language proficiency
  • give a presentation – with confidence.

A basic command of spoken and written English is expected (A2 GER entspr. dem europäischen Referenzrahmen)
